Answering a bad review: sort before you write
Four kinds of review, four different moves. What Google actually removes when you report, what your reply publishes about the author, and when the right reply is no reply at all.

Create and maintain Wikipedia pages that comply with encyclopedic rules to strengthen your brand authority.
Wikipedia isn’t just an encyclopedia. It’s become one of the most-cited reference sources by generative language models: ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Perplexity, Gemini. Why? Because Wikipedia pages are verifiable, sourced by third parties, neutral by construction.
When a user asks a question about your company, product, or industry, the AI looks for reliable sources. Wikipedia is systematically among the credible sources. A well-written Wikipedia page ensures generative AIs will cite you correctly, with context, reputation, and references.
GEO Connection
Visibility in AI answers (GEO) starts with recognized authority. Wikipedia + well-sourced E-E-A-T content = your brand becomes a reference source.
Authority & Credibility
An official Wikipedia page signals to Google, AIs, and users that you’re a notable, established brand.
Generative AI visibility
ChatGPT and Google AI Overview cite Wikipedia first. Be the credible source mentioned.
Narrative control
You control the narrative about your brand via third-party verifiable sources: no spam, real value.
Very high-quality backlinks
Wikipedia links to your site confer legitimate, lasting SEO authority.
Before creating a Wikipedia page, you must prove that the brand/company/person is notable in Wikipedia’s eyes. That means: a history, verifiable external media coverage, significant contributions to society. We analyze real notability and determine project viability.
Wikipedia writing follows strict rules: neutral point of view (NPOV), absolute verifiability via secondary sources (press, books, studies), no promotion, encyclopedic structure. A badly written article will be deleted. We write respecting these rules, or improve existing drafts.
Wikipedia doesn’t auto-validate articles. They go through a notability evaluation (AfD: Articles for Deletion). Contributors vote: keep, delete, or merge. An article without solid sources or judged promotional will be deleted in 30 days. I handle this crucial phase and capitalize on feedback to improve.
A Wikipedia page isn’t a static site. It must be maintained, updated with new sources, protected from vandalism, improved progressively. I monitor changes, enrich with relevant sections, manage links and categories for maximum visibility.
"Wikipedia is the collective brain of the web. If you want generative AI to cite you correctly, you must be Wikipedia-ready: sourced, neutral, established."
Rémi Baudat, GEO Consultant
Deep research: is your brand notable enough? Do you have sufficient third-party sources (press, academia, books)? AfD risks?
Identification and compilation of external sources (press articles, books, studies) that validate notability. Every claim must be sourced.
Drafting strictly following Wikipedia rules: Neutral Point of View, complete sourcing, encyclopedic structure, no promotional content.
Publication and navigation of the community evaluation process. Responses to objections, continuous improvement until final acceptance.
Monthly monitoring, adding new information, optimizing headers/sections for better extraction by generative AI, vandalism handling.
SMBs/mid-market companies with history, recognized activity, media coverage. A natural step to validate your notability with generative AI.
People who’ve built reputation: renowned entrepreneurs, thinkers, recognized influencers. Wikipedia adds credibility to your background.
Associations, NGOs, institutions. Wikipedia helps you document social impact & legacy in a neutral, verifiable way.
A bad review does not always call for a reply. Before writing anything, I put each review in a box: genuinely unhappy customer, off-topic review, content that crosses a line, or an extortion attempt. The move changes every time, and picking the wrong move costs more than writing the right one badly.
Four boxes pinned next to the desk, and one named person who replies. Sorting takes as long as reading the review once more, and it prevents the heat-of-the-moment reply that freezes a dispute for years.
Google does not take sides in a dispute between a business and a customer: a review only comes down if it breaks a named rule. I report sparingly, on the exact ground (off-topic, unsubstantiated accusation, personal data, conflict of interest), and I follow the case through to appeal.
A public reply never confirms that someone is a customer: not the date, not the service, not the amount. It speaks to the next reader, not to the review's author. And for professions bound by confidentiality, it makes room for listing removal instead.
Wikipedia ranks #1 for 90 %+ of commercial queries. Your Wikipedia page becomes your credible storefront for millions of searchers.
ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Perplexity systematically cite Wikipedia. Be the source for questions about your brand/industry.
A Wikipedia page means: your brand is notable, verifiable, recognized. Massive E-E-A-T score boost.
Link from Wikipedia (DA 100) to your site. Low direct SEO impact (nofollow), but huge legitimacy signal.
With the generalization of AI Overviews in Google SERPs and the rise of Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, and Gemini, the search engine is no longer just a ranking. It’s an answer engine. And in this new attention economy, Wikipedia has become the central pivot. Why? Because LLMs trust it by construction. When a user types "Who is X?" or "What does company Y do?" in ChatGPT, the AI massively searches Wikipedia. If you’re not there, you don’t exist in the models’ collective memory.
This week, I signed a new client who reached out directly after landing on this page searching "how to create company Wikipedia page" on Google. That’s exactly the mechanism I describe here: specialized SEO that brings ultra-qualified traffic, on a topic where client ROI is measurable and quick. Wikipedia is one of the levers where the "effort × impact" ratio is still largely under-exploited by brands.
The other reason: the LLM ecosystem is stabilizing. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity all converge on the same authority criteria: third-party sources, verifiability, longevity of editorial coverage. A Wikipedia page properly built today will have a halo effect on your AI visibility for 5 to 10 years. It’s one of the rare digital investments that appreciates with time rather than depreciating.
In practice, the profiles I support on Wikipedia
Founders of B2B scale-ups (€10M+ ARR), leaders of industrial SMBs with strong history, recognized authors and speakers, institutional brands with recurring press coverage. The common criterion: notability verifiable by third-party sources, not a fleeting buzz effect.
Wikipedia never works in isolation. To maximize impact on your AI visibility, I systematically combine it with:
A Wikipedia page compliant with notability criteria to anchor your expertise and your E-E-A-T.
